At Security Zone Online, we aim to provide quality products and reliable service. This Refund and Return Policy explains when returns, refunds, replacements and repairs may be available.

Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any rights or remedies you may have under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).

1. Change of Mind Returns

Please choose your products carefully and review product descriptions, specifications and compatibility before placing your order.

Security Zone Online does not offer returns, refunds or exchanges where you have simply changed your mind.

This includes circumstances where you:

  • no longer want or require the product;

  • ordered the incorrect product, model, size, colour or quantity;

  • selected a product that is not suitable for your intended application;

  • found the product cheaper elsewhere; or

  • made an incorrect purchasing decision.

This does not affect any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.

2. Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Products

If a product is faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied, significantly different from its description, or otherwise fails to meet a consumer guarantee under the Australian Consumer Law, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, refund or other remedy depending on the circumstances.

Please contact us as soon as reasonably possible after discovering an issue.

When contacting us, please provide:

  • your order number or other proof of purchase;

  • the product model or SKU;

  • a clear description of the issue; and

  • photos or videos of the issue where reasonably available.

Requesting this information helps us assess the issue and does not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

3. Australian Consumer Law – Major Problems

Under the Australian Consumer Law, a product may have a major problem if, for example:

  • a reasonable consumer would not have purchased the product if they had known about the problem;

  • the product is unsafe;

  • the product is significantly different from its description, sample or demonstration model;

  • the product is substantially unfit for its normal purpose and cannot easily be fixed within a reasonable time; or

  • the product is unfit for a particular purpose that you made known to us before purchasing and the problem cannot easily be fixed.

Where a product has a major problem, you may generally choose between:

  • a replacement; or

  • a refund.

You may also choose to keep the product and seek compensation for any reduction in value where applicable.

4. Minor Problems

Where a product has a minor problem, Security Zone Online may choose to repair, replace or refund the product in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law.

If we choose to repair the product, the repair will be completed within a reasonable time.

If the problem cannot be repaired within a reasonable time, you may be entitled to a replacement, refund or another remedy available under the Australian Consumer Law.

5. Return Authorisation and RMA Process

Before returning a product, please contact our Customer Support Team at sales@securityzoneonline.com.au.

Where appropriate, we will provide you with a Return Merchandise Authorisation (RMA) number and return instructions.

Please do not return products without first contacting us, as this may delay the assessment and processing of your return.

When returning an item:

  • package the product securely to prevent damage during transit;

  • include the RMA number where one has been issued;

  • include all relevant components, accessories and documentation that relate to the product being assessed; and

  • use a trackable shipping method where reasonably possible.

6. Original Packaging

Products returned under the Australian Consumer Law do not need to be unopened, sealed or in their original packaging in order for a valid consumer guarantee claim to be considered.

However, where available, we recommend returning the original packaging, accessories, cables, manuals and other included items, as this can assist with assessment and processing.

7. Return Shipping Costs

For products that can reasonably be posted or returned, you may initially be required to arrange and pay for return shipping.

If the product is confirmed to have a problem covered by the Australian Consumer Law, Security Zone Online will reimburse reasonable return postage or transportation costs where required by law.

If a faulty product is large, heavy or otherwise difficult to return without significant cost, we will arrange collection or cover reasonable transportation costs where required under the Australian Consumer Law.

For products that are assessed and found not to be faulty or otherwise covered by the Australian Consumer Law, return shipping costs may remain the customer's responsibility.

8. Inspection and Testing

Returned products may be inspected and tested to verify the reported issue.

Testing may include checking:

  • product operation;

  • configuration;

  • firmware;

  • power supply;

  • network connectivity;

  • compatibility;

  • physical condition; and

  • other relevant factors.

If testing confirms a fault or other failure covered by the Australian Consumer Law, we will provide an appropriate remedy.

If no fault is found, or the issue is caused by incorrect installation, configuration, compatibility, misuse or another factor not covered by the Australian Consumer Law, a refund or replacement may not be available.

9. Products Damaged by Misuse or Installation

Consumer guarantees do not generally apply where a product has been damaged due to circumstances unrelated to a product fault.

This may include damage caused by:

  • misuse or abuse;

  • accidental or physical damage;

  • incorrect installation;

  • incorrect wiring or power supply;

  • unauthorised modification;

  • improper maintenance;

  • water, moisture or environmental exposure beyond the product's specifications;

  • electrical surges;

  • incorrect configuration; or

  • use of the product in a manner inconsistent with the manufacturer's instructions or specifications.

This does not affect any rights you may otherwise have under the Australian Consumer Law.

10. Compatibility

Customers are encouraged to confirm compatibility before purchasing products such as cameras, NVRs, alarm equipment, networking equipment, intercoms, access control equipment and accessories.

Where a customer independently purchases an incompatible product, this will generally be treated as a change-of-mind or incorrect-product selection and will not qualify for a return solely on that basis.

However, if you made your intended purpose known to us before purchasing and reasonably relied on specific advice provided by us regarding suitability or compatibility, your rights under the Australian Consumer Law may apply.

11. Clearance, Sale and Promotional Products

Clearance, sale, final-sale and promotional products are not eligible for change-of-mind returns.

However, products purchased on sale or promotion remain covered by the Australian Consumer Law.

If a product was discounted because of a specific defect that was clearly disclosed to you before purchase, you may not be entitled to a remedy for that particular disclosed defect.

12. Customised and Special-Order Products

Customised, personalised or specially ordered products are not eligible for change-of-mind returns.

This does not exclude any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law if the product is faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied or otherwise fails to meet a consumer guarantee.

13. Software, Licences and Digital Products

Software, licences, activation codes and digital products that have been activated, registered, downloaded or supplied are not eligible for change-of-mind returns.

This does not affect any rights or remedies that may apply under the Australian Consumer Law.

14. Refunds

Where a refund is approved, the refund will generally be issued to the original payment method used for the purchase.

Refund processing times may vary depending on your bank, card provider or payment provider.

Once processed by Security Zone Online, refunds may take approximately 7–10 business days to appear in your account.

Original shipping charges may be refunded where required under the Australian Consumer Law, including where appropriate in connection with faulty, damaged or incorrectly supplied goods.

15. Proof of Purchase

We may require reasonable proof that the product was purchased from Security Zone Online.

Acceptable proof of purchase may include:

  • an order confirmation;

  • tax invoice;

  • receipt;

  • order number;

  • payment record; or

  • other reasonable evidence showing the purchase was made from Security Zone Online.

16. Manufacturer Warranties

Some products may also be covered by a manufacturer's warranty.

Manufacturer warranties are provided in addition to, and do not replace, your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Depending on the product and issue, we may assist with the manufacturer's warranty or RMA process.
